Table top dishwashers are a great invention. They give you all the joy of a regular dishwasher, just in a neat and compact design.

Today we look at some of the best table top dishwashers on the market and give you an honest review for each one. But first let’s have a closer look at what they are and the benefits of using these small-scale appliances that can make a big impact to your everyday living.

What are table top dishwashers?

Well, the clue is in the name – they are exactly what they say they are – a dishwasher that fits onto your table or work top.

A regular sized dishwasher would normally be built into your kitchen, but not everyone has the room for this. With appliances such as fridge freezers and washing machines taking up space in your kitchen or utility area, there may not be much room left for anything else.

And that’s where these handy pieces of equipment come into their own.  The first dishwasher was produced in 1850 and the world of the mechanical dishwashing device has grown and adapted over the years, giving us so many options it can be difficult to know which one to choose.

This is where we can help you out. We know a thing or two about such appliances and will give you all the knowledge you need to find the table top dishwasher that is best suited for your household.

Singlehomie Table Top Dishwasher

glass door loaded dishwasher

Colour: White

Weight: 15kg

Dimensions: 42.4cm(d) x 42.9cm(w) x 45.7cm(h)

Programmes: 5

Let’s kick things off with a dishwasher from a brand that I personally have never heard of. Singlehomie seem to originate from China and have made other products such as cooker hoods and induction hobs, but let’s see what their table top dishwasher has to offer.

Firstly, it looks great – with its white, sleek appearance, it will easily fit into any modern home without looking untidy or imposing. Aesthetics is all very well, but we need an appliance that is going to do the task we need it to – and this dishwasher does not disappoint.

We love the fact that it has a number of great features. Normally smaller appliances tend to be limited at what they can do, read on and we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

  • You get two modes – tap mode and tank mode. You can either connect the inlet pipe directly to your tap or you can fill the tank up with water using a jug.
  • It has an LED light which turns on as soon as you open the door – this is ideal for being able to see what you are doing when loading or to check that the dishwasher is clean before you use it again
  • The clear glass door lets you look in to see how your kitchenware is being cleaned, ensuring the cleaning process is efficient
  • Temperature control – this allows the dishwasher powder to work at a lower temperature and then when the washing begins with the water, the temperature sets itself a little higher to get the desired results
  • Other features include a hot air circulation system, dry mode, and a fruit and veg cleaning programme

The dishwasher has an LED screen and touch control – this is in keeping with its sleek design and it is easy to wipe over to keep it clean. Touch the button to turn on the machine and the buttons and screen will light up. It’s easy enough to select the function you require, and it will display the temperature for that cycle.

Remember to connect the drainage pipe before you start it up – this easily connects at the back of the dishwasher and the other end has a suction pad that you can stick on the side of your sink, so the water goes where it is supposed to!

Pull down the door and inside the dishwasher you’ll find a tray on wheels, which when pulled out, gives you access to put your dirty plates, dishes, and cups. There is a fold down tray to put a couple of extra things on, as well as a basket for your cutlery.

Your dishwasher tablet simply pops into the space at the bottom of the door, when this is in place simply close the door and select your programme.

We love that you can see the dishwasher getting to work – what’s more satisfying than watching the hard work being done for you?!

When the cleaning process has finished, you can choose to dry them by pressing the button on top of the machine. The hot air circulation system means there will be no risk of moisture or bacteria lingering when the cycle has finished.

Best Overall Choice

Cookology CMDW Mini Dishwasher

open dishwasher with empty rack

Colour: White

Weight: Not specified

Dimensions: 42cm(d) x 43.5cm(w) x 46.5cm(h)

Programmes: 6

Next on our list is a dishwasher from a brand that is a little more well-known – Cookology – a British company established in 2014, they manufacture ovens, hobs, fridges, beverage coolers, and now table top dishwashers. So, let’s delve a little more into that part of their ever-growing business.

Let’s start with the aesthetics of this machine – we like it! With its smooth edges, white finish and LED screen this dishwasher would make an easy addition to any home. Its minimal look means it won’t stick out like a sore thumb if you choose to place it in your kitchen, and equally the dimensions of the unit allows it to fit neatly within your living space.

Equipped with 6 programmes it gives you the means to put the majority of your kitchenware into the dishwasher, so you don’t have to worry about the washing up after a long day at work. There’s nothing worse than having to stand at the sink after you’ve been out all day, cooked dinner for the family and then you have to face the dishes – so why not let the Cookology mini dishwasher do all the hard work. The programmes it gives you include:

  • Rapid – when you have last minute plans and need your kitchenware cleaned in a hurry
  • Intensive – stubborn food stains will lift off easily with this cycle
  • Glass – your glassware will be looked after during this programme, leaving it streak and scratch free
  • You also get eco, 58-minute wash, and self-cleaning

The dishwasher comes with some handy features too and you can see why Cookology are becoming more well known when they produce appliances to this standard.

A useful feature is the child lock – if you have little ones, I’m sure you’ll know how much of a godsend this is. Thankfully most appliances come with this feature, but it’s one I always make sure I look out for when choosing a new appliance. It’s all very nice when the kids want to help with the household chores, until you realise you need to wait that little bit longer because they’ve pressed the pause button or another setting!

The delay timer gives you the option to use your dishwasher at the most convenient time for you. If you like the thought of freshly cleaned plates just before you serve dinner or you want to put the dishwasher on when it is a little bit cheaper to run, you can set the timer to accommodate this.

The LED touch screen displays everything you need. All you have to do is decide which programme you want from the icons on the front, press it, and then you can get on with anything else you need to whilst the dishwasher is working away.

It really is so simple to use. When you have found your desired place on your worktop, fill with 5 litres of water, plug it in, point the hose into the sink, select your programme and the dishwasher will do the rest.

Filling the dishwasher couldn’t be easier too, with a rack that pulls out to allow you to fill every gap and an adjustable shelf, you really can make the most of the space it has to offer. While it only has the capacity for 3 place settings (less than some others on this list) it is still a great machine for smaller households.

Ideal for small households

Cookology give us a great option here and in the middle of our price range we think it’s a sound investment that your family will really benefit from.

Russell Hobbs Compact Dishwasher

russell hobbs dishwasher on worktop

Colour: White

Weight: 20kg

Dimensions: 50cm(d) x 55cm(w) x 44cm(h)

A company that is one of the most well known on this list – Russell Hobbs. Founded in 1952, the British manufacturer has built up a worldwide reputation, producing appliances such as kettles, toasters, irons, and microwaves, but for today’s article let’s look at their table top dishwasher.

Like most on this list the dishwasher comes in white as standard, although you do have the choice of two other colours – black or silver – for a little more money. If you think the black or silver will match your décor better and you don’t mind parting with a little extra cash, then go for one of those, but if you’re not too worried and because white fits into any household then we’re quite sure you’ll be pleased with this dishwasher Russell Hobbs have to offer.

Onto the programmes now – there are 6 of them and they are similar to the ones we have come to expect in this article.

  • Eco – when your kitchenware isn’t too dirty, you can use this programme to save time and energy
  • Quick 30 – sometimes you’re in a real rush and need your plates and cutlery ready for an unannounced visit from family, making this an ideal choice
  • Intensive – stubborn food on plates can be tricky, using this programme means your items come out clean every time
  • You also get universal, glass, and quick 90

On the front of the dishwasher you will see the power button and display screen, as well as a timer, programme (P), and start/pause button. The programmes are easily chosen by pressing the P button until the icon on the display screen lights up.

Underneath this is the handle which easily pulls open the door to reveal the inside of the dishwasher. When the door is pulled down you will find the compartment to put your dishwasher tablet, as well as the salt and rinse aid section which comes with a useful indicator to let you know when you are running low.

The tray is on wheels so you can pull it out to maximise the use of the space, even right at the back. You have space for six place settings which would suit most families, as well as a cutlery basket and an adjustable shelf. You can remove the cutlery basket to give you a little more space when needed.

There is also a timer delay function for your convenience, allowing you to set it between 1 and 25 hours later.

For an extra fee you can also choose to have the dishwasher unpacked, unpack and old appliance collection, or connect and appliance collection. The dishwasher comes with a 1-year guarantee too.

Karlxtom Table Top Dishwasher

loaded dishwasher with inside light on

Colour: White

Weight: 14.6kg

Dimensions: 42.8cm(d) x 45.8cm(w) x 42.5cm(h)

Programmes: 6

Our last choice of the best table top dishwashers is from a brand called Karlxtom. This is another unfamiliar one for us, but we were willing to see what it was all about, so let’s take a closer look.

The aesthetics of this appliance are pleasing to the eye and quite similar to other models on this list.  The majority of the machine is white, and the front is a glass door which means you can see it in use and watch just how it gets your kitchenware so clean.

Above the door there is a touchscreen panel which clearly shows each washing programme as well as an extra dry option. There is a mode button which when pressed will go through the programmes and the one you select will light up. There is also a power button on the far right.

The display screen shows you what temperature your chosen programme is cleaning at. So let’s look a little closer at those programmes.

  • Normal – for everyday kitchenware that isn’t too dirty
  • Rapid – if you need your plates in a hurry, you can clean them in 29 minutes
  • Baby care – looking after bottles, dummies, teethers and more
  • Others include glass, fruit and a drying programme

The dishwasher can hold up to four place settings which is perfect for a small to medium family. The kitchenware is placed on the pull-out tray, as well as making use of the shelf which can hold mugs or glasses, and the cutlery basket. There is also a basket to hold your fruit when it is being washed.

There is a light inside the machine which helps when loading and unloading, and so you can easily see the programme working its magic.

Its auto drying cycle starts automatically when your programme has ended and this gives you 60 minutes of hot air drying, as well as offering 72 hours ventilated storage, so if you haven’t got the time to empty the dishwasher straight away, you don’t have to worry about your plates gathering bacteria from leftover moisture.

You also get a jug to fill the dishwasher manually, meaning you don’t need to have anything plumbed in (though the option to do so is there as it comes equipped with a pipe). This means if you wanted, you could easily put it in the back of your car when you go on holiday, spending the week at a relative’s house, or you could even take it to the office to wash all the cups after that big staff meeting!

A drainage pipe is included, as well as instructions if you get stuck, but it is all relatively simple to set up and get going.

Ideal For Convenience

This offering from Karlxtom is the most expensive on our list – it comes with some great programmes and will fit into your life easily.

It is a sound investment and well worth your consideration.

Whatever your reason for needing one of these handy compact machines we are sure you can find the most suitable one for your household, workplace, or holiday home.

We have catered for all price ranges, and we hope we have made it a little easier for you to choose such a useful piece of kit.

With an ever-growing market of appliances it can be easy to get overwhelmed by too many different manufacturers, prices, functions and so on. We’re confident this article will have given you an insight to some of the best table top dishwashers available right now.

What are the benefits of using a table top dishwasher?

We’re raving about these handy little appliances, so it’s only right that we tell you why you could benefit so much from purchasing one. Let’s take a deeper look to give you an insight into how it could impact your everyday life.

Saves on space – If you find that your kitchen is too small to house a regular sized dishwasher, then a table top one is the ideal solution. Maybe you have been used to a dishwasher and recently moved to a smaller property, but you really don’t want to be without such a useful piece of kit.

Efficient – Because table top dishwashers are so compact, they do not use a lot of electricity or water, meaning you can run them daily without racking up your energy bills. Something everyone will be pleased to hear!

Ideal for a smaller family – They are great for families that do not get through a lot of kitchenware. Whether that be a couple or maybe someone living alone.

Functions are not altered by the size – The settings and functions on a table top dishwasher will be the same as a regular sized one, whereby you will be able to wash, rinse, and dry your kitchenware. While you won’t get the same scale of space, you are still able to pull out the tray to load the dishwasher and stack your utensils.

Kinder to skin – If you or someone in your household have sensitive skin or allergies, then a table top dishwasher could be a lifesaver. There’s nothing worse than having sore or broken skin on your hands, to then have to put them in water, especially when you have washing up liquid in there that might irritate it further. So to be able to load a dishwasher and let it do the hard work for you would be an ideal solution.

While these benefits are great, it is worth noting a couple of points that might affect you buying something like this. Firstly, think about how much room you have on your counter or worktops. If you’re unsure it will fit, we’d highly recommend measuring for the dimensions of the appliance before purchasing.

Due to the fact that it is a smaller machine, bear this in mind when you are loading it. There will be no point trying to cram as many plates or cups in as you can for it to not clean them properly. Don’t overfill the dishwasher, and be prepared to reload a few times if you are having a dinner party!
